- Assess, evaluate and often mitigate the impact of prolonged mechanical ventilation on the health system in Ontario.
- To identify and address the key barriers to weaning from mechanical ventilation at the level of both patient and health system.
- To review and apply evidence-based and interdisciplinary strategies for prolonged weaning, focusing on both prevention and treatment.
Target Audience: Multi-disciplinary, health care team from hospital centers which includes: intensivists, ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, managers and administrators, physiotherapists, dieticians, psychologists, hospital administration as well as representatives from the 14 LHINs.
